Istanbul University Solar Car Racing Team
TUBITAK Formula-G
Formula-G is held by TUBITAK every year since 2005 in order to contribute to the usage of alternating energy sources and to help university students use their technical and theoretical knowledge and learn to work as a team.
Universities from all over the country attend to these races with two categories: TUBITAK Formula-G Solar Car Races and TUBITAK Hydro mobile Hydrogen Car Races. These races are held in Izmir Pinarbasi Track since 2008.
World Solar Challenge
In 1982 Hans Tholstrup crossed the entire Australia continent with Quiet Achiever, a solar car that he produced himself. This event is considered to be the beginning of world’s most important solar car race: WSC. Many universities from all over the world attend to this race which aims to popularize the usage of solar cars.
The race starts from the city of Darwin and the finish line is in Adelaide, the south of the continent. The track is 3021km long and the teams have to pass some part of the desert as well. The race not only points out the importance of the team work but also bring out the adventurous side of the racers.

Shell Eco Marathon
Shell Eco Marathon is an international race sponsored by Shell for over 25 years in order to encourage the engineers-to-be to create a new generation of technologies which would be both energy efficient and environmentally friendly. The main goal is to design and produce a car that would go the farthest with minimum fuel and emission. There are two categories: the cars that use diesel, gasoline and LPG as their fuel source race in the “Prototype” category and those with solar, electrical, hydrogen or bio fuel as their main energy source race in the “Urban” category.
